How to track your net worth in multiple currencies

3 min read

A checking account at the bank down the road. A brokerage account in dollars. Savings in euros from a few years abroad. A flat, and the mortgage on it. Each one has its own app, its own statement and often its own currency, so the one figure that matters most, what it all adds up to, sits in none of them.

Moflow is a private ledger built to hold that figure. You add your accounts once, in their own currencies, and Moflow totals them in one display currency.

It is built for wealth that crosses borders: the accounts of someone who has lived, worked or invested in more than one country.

How accounts in different currencies become one total

Accounts keep the currency they are held in: dollars in one, euros in another, pounds or Swiss francs in a third. Moflow converts them into your display currency and shows one total. You choose the display currency when you set up, and change it anytime from the menu at the top of the app.

In a spreadsheet, that conversion is a formula somebody has to keep. In Moflow, it is the ledger's job. The net worth page shows how many currencies Moflow supports.

Cash, stocks, property and debts. One total.

The account picker includes cash, savings and investments, real estate, vehicles, precious metals, collectibles and private companies, plus Other. Mortgages, loans and cards go under Debt.

Your net worth is what you own minus what you owe. A debt is recorded as the amount owed and subtracted from the total, so a house and the mortgage on it each show as what they are.

An investment account carries its holdings. Portfolio shows holdings, cost, gains and weights. Allocation shows where the money actually sits. Both come with Free.

On Moflow+, a supported brokerage fills itself in

Keeping a brokerage account current by hand means retyping positions whenever they change. On Moflow+, connect a supported brokerage and keep the rest by hand. Positions, cash and balances arrive on their own and stay current, and a connected account's holdings and prices come from its brokerage.

Read-only: Moflow never trades and never moves money. Moflow never receives your broker sign-in details.

Connected is a property of one account, not a separate ledger. A connected brokerage sits beside the accounts you keep by hand, and the total counts them together.

Some of the brokerages Moflow+ connects are shown on the home page, and the app lists many more. Not on the list? Add it by hand. On Free and on Moflow+ alike, type a balance on an account you keep by hand, and it counts toward the total.

What you see when you open it

Your net worth comes first. What needs you is on the same screen: a month to confirm, idle cash.

On Summary, your net worth ticks at the rates you set: the yields and growth you give your accounts, plus what you save from your income. It is an estimate built from your own figures.

After a month ends, Moflow captures it as a snapshot. You correct a row if something moved, then confirm it, and a confirmed month cannot be rewritten. On Moflow+, Trends reads those snapshots back as your net worth, month by month.

Private, and yours

Encrypted in transit and at rest. Used only to serve you. Never sold, and never used for advertising. Your ledger syncs to every device you sign in on, and erasing your data or deleting your account is free on every plan, from Settings. The data charter sets out the rest.

Free, and what Moflow+ adds

Free keeps your whole net worth in one place, on every device, with no card needed. Moflow+ connects a supported brokerage, lets your AI read and update your ledger, and adds trends, goals, projections and retirement. What each plan costs is on Pricing.

A sample ledger, read-only, is on the demo. It never touches a ledger of your own.

Your number is waiting.
